Welcome to a page of Chatham’s Humanities student organizations! The Humanities clubs are a part of the disciplines of English, Creative Writing, Women’s & Gender Studies, and more. Here we will have information on what clubs are offered in the Humanities, what these clubs do, and how to get in contact with them!
Sigma Tau Delta
Sigma Tau Delta is the International English Honor Society that is dedicated to promoting literacy and interest in literacy and culture. Chatham’s chapter of Sigma Tau Delta is Alpha Delta Lambda, which focuses on encouraging the growth of literature for students across all disciplines. Sigma Tau Delta hosts the annual Rachel Carson Academic and Creative Writing Conference every fall to create a space for students and faculty to present in a safe and supportive environment, which can prepare them for larger conferences. Creative writing club
Chatham’s Creative Writing Club is a chance for people who love to write to come together to further develop their creative writing skills. Through hosting poetry reading events, workshops, and even the Haunted House this club offers community support and encouragement for writers. Follow them on Instagram at @chatham.creativewriting
Minor bird
The Minor Bird is Chatham’s literary magazine for undergraduate students. The purpose of the magazine is to provide students the chance to have their work published. Students can also gain professional experience with literary magazines and journals by designing and editing the journal. Prose Bros
Prose Bros is Chatham’s book club. It is a newly formed organization as of Spring 2024. Prose Bros is an opportunity for students who love to read and gather to discuss books. The club meets every month and are currently reading Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. Follow them on Instagram at @chathamprosebros
Chatham Feminist coalition
Founded in 2016, the Chatham Feminist Coalition is a club for all students interested in creating an intersectional feminist community on campus and in Pittsburgh. Triota
Triota was recently added as a student organization in the 2024 Spring semester as the Women’s and Gender Studies Honor Society. Chatham’s chapter of the honor society is Zeta Zeta. The purpose of this organization is to encourage and support scholarship, excellence, and activism in women’s and gender studies. They also aim to foster a feminist community, promote personal growth, and increase awareness of issues pertaining to gender, race, class, sexuality, and other intersecting dimensions of identity. Planned Parenthood Generation Action at chatham (PPGEN)
This organization is Chatham’s branch of Planned Parenthood Generation Action. PPGEN is a network of young activists who have the goal of organizing events on their campuses to advocate for reproductive freedom. Through Chatham’s PPGEN events like their women in music fundraiser and raffle baskets, they aim to raise public awareness about reproductive health and rights and create a lasting change in their community.
