Public Book Reading – Boys & Oil with Taylor Brorby

Join us for a public book reading by acclaimed author Taylor Brorby, Spring 2026 Falk School Rachel Carson Visiting Scholar. Brorby will read from his book Boys & Oil: Growing Up Gay in a Fractured Land and discuss themes of identity, environment, and activism. The event will take place on March 16th from 4:30–5:45 PM in the Welker Room at Shadyside campus. Light appetizers and beverages will be provided.

Undergraduate students are invited to present their research and Capstone projects at the Third Annual Humanities, Social Sciences, & Honors Research Symposium. Sponsored by the Chatham Honors Program, Humanities Department, Social Science Department and the College of Arts & Sciences, this event provides an excellent opportunity for students to present their work in a professional academic setting.

Lycoming College – Undergraduate Humanities research Conference

Location: Lycoming College 1 College Place Williamsport, PA
- This conference solicits advanced undergraduate research from scholars in literature, history, religious studies, philosophy, modern or classical languages, art history, and social sciences with humanistic content. Students who are interested in future graduate studies, professionalization opportunities, or simply sharing your research, please consider submitting your work.
- The conference has hosted 60-70 scholars from two dozen institutions each year, and they anticipate another robust intellectual event this year. The conference is free and will include awards for the best presentations in different scholarly areas. In addition, all participants will have the opportunity to submit their work to be considered for publication in the Mid-Atlantic Humanities Review: A Journal of Undergraduate Research: (Mid-Atlantic Humanities Review: A Journal of Undergraduate Research)

NEW Leadership Pennsylvania is an intensive, six-day, leadership and public policy institute designed to educate and empower students for future political participation and leadership. The program addresses the under–representation of women in the political arena by focusing on the role of women in politics and policy making in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Faculty Professor Teaching Associate * Full-Time
The English Department at the University of Pittsburgh welcomes applications for an Appointment Stream Teaching Assistant or Teaching Associate Professor position, primarily in the Writing Program, to begin the fall semester of 2026.
Job description:
– The department is specifically interested in candidates who have an established track record in successfully teaching introductory and intermediate creative writing classes, of both single- and multi-genre focus, especially in poetry and poetic literature.
-The successful candidate will also be able to teach capstone-level courses, requiring intensive group and individual work with a small class of upper-level students, with demonstrated experience in fostering student professional development.
– The selected candidate will also have experience in Literature pedagogy and be prepared to teach courses in 20th- and 21st- century literature from a historical perspective.
-The English department is especially interested in applicants who have taught first-year writing and who are interested in contributing to our development of cross-programmatic curricula.
-Applicants must hold an MFA degree in Creative Writing or a related field.
Review of applicants will begin December 1, 2025, and will continue until the position is filled. The appointment requires administrative and budgetary approval. The position is scheduled to begin on August 15, 2026.

“Hands of Hope AmeriCorps Members will serve vulnerable children throughout a 12-month commitment, living in a private, gated community (at no cost) and receiving a living allowance. Hands of Hope AmeriCorps Members will work collaboratively with other AmeriCorps Members in the home to ensure that children’s physical, emotional, and mental needs are met. While the commitment is only one year, the impact AmeriCorps Members have on the children in their care is lifelong.
